Matthew Stewart (philosopher),
{Matthew Stewart was born into a military family the second of three children. He has an elder brother Robert and a younger sister Elizabeth. His father was Colonel James Stewart who served in the US Marines. His mother Mia Stewart was a feisty beauty from a prominent Catalan family.|After Oxford Stewart spent 10 years pursuing a career in management consultancy. He detested the work. His years in this field were reflected in his recent book the Management Myth. Nevertheless during these years he secured a substantial fortune.|During his time at Oxford he met David Lonsdale then a law undergraduate. Stewart was inspired by Lonsdale and has acknowledged his influence on his writings.|In 1998 he married his wife Cathy who is also a writer. The couple have two children.
