Brendan I was so impressed about your thoughts about my father's Generation.Alfred Edward Hatton ( Army Number X10333 ) experienced the Spanish Flu at 1 in 1918 and then Men Returning from World War 1 and the horrific war it was then The great Depression then World War 2 where Dad fought in Africa in the Second Thirty Second then on the 29th Nov 1943 in New Guinea he was shot up on Cedu Hill 29th Nov 1943.Dad was transferred to the Hospital Ship anchored off Port Morseby where Dr Mackellar - Hall operated on him and save his life but it was determined that he was unfit for any more Military Service so he returned home to Kalgoorlie Boulder covered in Bandages in Full Kit and met my Mum ( Beverley Brice Smythe ) on the train coming home then they married 25th Dec 1945.Unfortunately he could not resume his trades of Painter Signwriter French Polisher and Caligrapher due to the extent of his injury to his right arm where he had a scar from his Right Hand Middle Finger right up his arm to under his throat but we can thank Dr Mackellar-Hall for saving our father. Then there was the aftermath of World War 2 where supplies like food where hard to get until Australia got back on its feet.I was impressed with your service as a Parliamentarian and what you did for the Australian Military Museum in Canberra which I have been to see and it is simply amazing because it is Place of Worship and a Museum and a Library. We were there a day and even then you could not take it all in on one day.I was wondering if it is possible for you to visit Kalgoorlie Boulder and give a speech about Australia's Greatest Generation in the Boulder Town Hall and any other generation in the future will never be repeated in time to come.I also toured the Western Front with the Backroads Tour and our Unniversity trained guide who was an expert on World War 1 said that World War 2 was a walk in the park compared to World War 1.We also went to the Dawn Service at Villers Bretonneaux where we celebrated 100 years since the Austrlian Soldiers recovered the Village Viller Brettoneaux from the Germans in 1918 My mobile number is 0449106986 and my email is [email protected]
