I am an Australian sociologist of religion. I am seeking information about Charles Curran, who was an English Catholic priest at the time of Vatican II, where he was a peritus. In 1965 or thereabouts he left the Catholic Church to teach at a University in Canada. I understand that he left Catholicism, in regard to which at the time of his resignation from the priesthood he is reported to have stated that 'the Church is plainly corrupt'. I understand that Charles Curran returned in retirement with his spouse to live in the UK where he quite recently died. A daughter is said to have reported that he returned to Catholicism before he died.
