Francisco Narváez {Francisco Narvaez was born in Porlamar Nueva Esparta on October 04 1905. He was painter and sculptor. Since childhood he learned to carve by his father who was a carpenter and mason. In 1928 he traveled to Paris where he studied at the Académie Julian and established a workshop on the outskirts of that city. He returned to Venezuela in 1931 and opened a studio in the working-class neighborhood of Catia a place where artists and intellectuals gathered frequently.|In 1932 he was commissioned to design and sculpt the sculptures of the fountain of Parque Carabobo (Carabobo Plaza) work that was in charge of the architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva.
